My son turned me on to Achewood a while back.
In case you're even more out of touch than me I'll give you a quick overview.
It's an on-line comic drawn by Chris Onstad since 2001.
The art is nothing special, but the writing is truly exceptional.
It features a bizarre world in which anamorphic stuffed animals, pets and robots co-exist.
The main characters are two cats named Ray Smuckles and C. Roast Beef Kazenzakis.
Ray is wealthy and confident, wears a thong and drinks Ketel One Vodka.
He recently purchased Keith Moon's head on ebay.
Roast Beef suffers from severe depression and poor self esteem and enjoys computer programming and Guinness. He drives a 1965 Ford Galaxie (powered by the 427 V8, banned in 6 states) which was a gift from Ray.
The stories range from laugh-out-loud funny, to surprisingly sad and touching, to just plain bizarre. Sometimes all in the same strip.
A good place to start is The Great Outdoor Fight, a storyline which lasted several weeks and has been published as a hard-cover book.
